Job Summary
This position is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analytical Chemist to become a pivotal part of a leading environmental consultancy. This organisation consults across a broad spectrum of industries including, GMP/Manufacturing, Energy and Engineering. Your role will be to lead a team of junior analysts as well as providing on-going support to the Technical Manager.
Your Responsibilities will include:
· Develop testing protocols & analyses for laboratory & commercial scale systems
· Design, experiment & validate new procedures for implementation and evaluation of existing methods
· Work well with engineering teams, chemists, and technicians to design methods and fix problems with current procedures
· Understand current analytical methods and recognise new capabilities that would benefit operations
· Contribute largely to the daily operations of the Analytical Laboratory
· Deliver oversight to the justification of analytical assays
· Be responsible for preparation and training of Chemists & Technicians in the development and execution of analyses
· Wet chemistry and operation of high end instrumentation such as HPLC, AAS, ICP-AES, GC-MS
· Method development and validation
· Interface w/analytical laboratories of collaborators and customers
· Maintain lab notes, presentations, written reports of results and submit
To be successful you will have the following:
· Degree in Science (Chemistry) or similar
· Proven experience working as an Analytical Chemist ideally having some exposure to analysing metals, minerals, coal, organic waste and water compounds.
· Having supported a team of junior analysts would be highly advantageous but not essential
· Experience using the following instrumentation AAS, ICP-AES
· Method development and validation
· Be results orientated and a team player
· Excellent communication skills
· Understanding and working knowledge of Australian Standards ie NATA / ISO
