An established specialty retailer with strong market share, our client is seeking an experienced executive to head up their merchandise team, drive their product strategy, lead a group of committed and motivated buyers, and be groomed for a COO/MD role. Already a household name, their continued growth and success are a combination of their focus on merchandise, their innovative approach and the dedication and calibre of their people.

As a key member of the Executive team, you will work closely with the current Managing Director and be responsible for all aspects of the merchandise strategy including selection, ranging, planning, forecasting, brand development, quality assurance and delivery of product. Fundamental to the success of the position will be the ability to lead, coach and mentor a large high calibre team of buyers, assistants and planners.

With a track record that heads the buying function in a sizable retail organisation (including grocery, DDS or consumer electronics) you will be able to see the big picture, be strategic, commercial, have high standards, along with strong negotiation, interpersonal, marketing and trend analysis skills. You will operate productively and creatively in a fast paced work culture characterised by changing priorities.

The ability to lead and motivate a team, think laterally, challenge the status, install disciplines and procedures, ensure people are accountable together with excellent communication and problem solving qualities are also sought.
