Our client, an international mining and natural resources company, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Exploration Geologist to join their team at a site based in the heart of the Goldfields. This role will allow you to develop your professional career in a varied and interesting environment where your skills and knowledge will be challenged and extended. The role operates on a 9/5 roster, working 10 hour days. Your key Accountabilities/Responsibilities will include: - Follow and comply (and where appropriate assist in the development) with all the clients Safety, Environmental and Company systems/policies/procedures at all times;
- Prepare and implement exploration plans in accordance with safety, environmental, cultural heritage and landholder procedures and policies;
- Ensure exploration activities are aligned with schedule and budgetary guidelines;
- Active involvement in the training and mentoring of team members;
- Coordinate and manage contractors and ensure compliance to conditions set out in contracts;
- Conduct regular safety inspections/audits, Safe Act Observations and Job Safety Assessments as well as document safety and work procedures and oversee the safety activity of direct reports and contractors;
- Report all safety incidents through the correct procedures promptly and accurately and to a high standard. Ensure direct reports meeting safety reporting obligations;
- Manage data collection and entry of all appropriate exploration data and the maintenance & validation of exploration databases;
- Manage and provide guidance in the interpretation of geological mapping and drilling data;
- Review drilling campaigns for completeness and ensure the expected project deliverables are achieved to the highest standard;
- Management of all statutory and internal company or Joint Venture reports.
To be successful, you will possess the following: - Minimum of 7 years relevant industry experience
- Degree qualified in Geology
- Experience with managing small to medium sized teams
- A strong focus and commitment to safety;
- Strong team leadership and demonstrable experience in planning and executing exploration programs to a high technical standard and in accordance to budget;
- Well developed and mature corporate interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to interact and liaise across all levels of the organisation;
- Ability to work effectively in small teams and contribute to the wider Resources Development team;
- Advanced computing skills including all MS Office applications, MapInfo, Micromine and field PDAs;
- Well developed field skills and knowledge of mapping/sampling, drill rig supervision and drill sample logging;
- Advanced drill campaign planning and execution skills;
- Developed knowledge of tenement conditions and reporting standards
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail in all matters;
- Current Western Australian Drivers Licence.
