My client is a Consulting firm in the BI/DW space & they have an outstanding reputation in this market and an impressive client list to match. As they continue to expand out the scope of their operations & meet client demand they are now looking to hire 2 new Consultants to join their team in Sydney, working on high level projects across the Information Management, Business Intelligence & Analytical space.

I am looking for candidates who have around 5 years commercial experience in databases or within the IT industry & who ideally have strong & relevant academics (ideally IT degree, although 1st class honours degrees in any subject are well regarded). Candidates must have Strong SAS experience but they can come from any type of company (end-user, System Integrator, Software House, Consultancy)as long as they have developed a deep knowledge in one area of IT. Ideally this will be in the BI/DW space ( e.g Business Objects, Oracle, Hyperion, SAS, Teradata, Informatica / Datastage, Brio, Microstrategy etc) although candidates who have developed complex applications & have a strong grasp of systems & RDBMS principles (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Sybase etc) will also be considered. Candidates must have strong understanding of databses.

Candidates must possess a real desire to develop Consulting skills across the board, my client works closely with key players across a number of industries (Banking, Telco, Financial Services etc)& demonstrate the ability to combine strong technical expertise with the core skills that will enable you to become a Business Consultant (communciation skills, rapport buiding, presentation skills, influencing skills, problem solving, organisation & commercial awareness). This is a role where you will ultimately be applying technical solutions to solve business problems & successful Consultants will either have already (or display the aptitude to learn)the core skills/ability in this area.

This Consulting firm are very different to lots of other companies in this space & this is what makes these roles so exciting. Consultants at this company generally do their Consulting in Sydney, however it is possible that you may be required to travel interstate. In terms of hours Consultants here work a standard 40hr week with minimal weekend or out of hours work - high levels of producitivty and energy are expected in the normal working week but work/life balance & a life away from the office are things that are genuinely valued & supported her. These roles geniuinely offer all the great things that a Consulting firm offers (training, varied clients/industries, steep learning curves etc)without the traditional drawbacks (60hr weeks, lots of time away from home)which makes this a compelling opportunity.
